Will be needing some heat to finish my house. Enough to work drywall compound, latex paint, and thinset for tile. No fireplace. Fellow with lots of experience has set of unvented gas logs. He says we can set these up on bricks on my concrete basement floor and pipe propane from 100# tank. Have 10' basement height. Sounds to me OK, especially knowing his experience- really straight guy. I don't like the unvented kerosene heaters. Suggestions? What did you use?

"I don't like the unvented kerosene heaters"
this is what the fireplce logs are. Personaly I would get a used propane furnace and vent it to the outside.
good luck

Our son is building a house and installed a vented garage popane heater in the basement. He may leave it there when construction is done as supplemental heat in the basement or put in his garage when he builds that.

Get a hold of a rental yard or propane supplier and try to get a couple of salamanders for temp heat!!

Wife's sis just had a large room built on her house, contractor used a gas heater for that, until permanent heat was installed. Of course he left a window open a bit and then the room door was closed off. Seemed to work OK for his painting and drywall finishing. Had it on an inline thermostat. Unvented seems to always create a problem if not handled peoperly

My only experience..... .; when house was built in '73, drywall finisher used kerosene heater to provide heat; within about 2 months, you could see every seam, because of different color. Contractor said it was because of kerosene fumes; he had seen it happen before; drywall finisher had to seal and repaint walls twice.....

Not to mentioned carbon monoxide, every gallon of fuel that is burned produces water vapor. How much added humidity can you handle in your project?

My Son is a carpenter and he says never use an unvented heater to dry out drywall that is not dry. The unvented heater actually puts moisture into the house from the combustion process.
