To start the 3000 the shift levers have to be in neutral position for the safty switch to allow the start solinoid to pull up. On my 3000 you often have to jiggle the hi-lo range selector before the safty switch will make contact. In looking at the book there appears to be several parts to this assembly in addition to the switch. I am sure some of you have been here before. Please share your fix with me. Thanks.

Would it be a consideration to bypass the switch all together?

I realize that it would be easy to splice the two wires to the safety switch together to by-pass but was not wanting to give up the function if it could be fixed without too much trouble.

Removed the shife cover, unpluged the wires in and out. removed the safty switch from its mount.
Put it in a vise, not too tight. Sprayed WD40 on the ball plunger and worked it until it loosened up. It was sticking. Then did the same to the plunger in the mount in the trans. Put it all back together and it works.
