I worked in a bike shop for about 10 years, the best stuff made was called yama-bond, it was better than anything on the market including loctite gasket eliminater.

Twenty years ago, I might have been known as IndydirtBIKER. I raced enduro's and hare scrambles. I worked on all my own bikes, and NEVER used case gaskets. I used a product that is STILL available through Yamaha dealers, called Yama-bond. It comes in a toothpaste tube, and doesn't cost very much. It is good stuff. and doesn't break down with gas or oil. Good luck, John

Permatex Anaerobic Form-a-Gasket compound, small tube, part #51817.

First I would check to see if the engine case had a gasket or it might be a machined fit. I work on motorcycle engines and most have no center case gasket, in this case we use Avaition Form a Gasket by Permatex. This will seal without getting cemented or permently stuck together.

There is a product made by Loc-Tite called gasket eliminator that I use on VW case halves.

Use this all the time on motorcycles, 4 wheelers, and almost anything else. Was skeptical at first, but once you use it, you will be sold. Just don't hog everything down supertight so there is some sealer left in there.

Yep getcha some gasket material, they aren't hard to make. I'd use a little RTV cement on the gasket when re-assembling.

Sometimes adding gasket material to a case that is machined to fit without a gasket can cause problems by making the case halves farther apart.

Compare the old gasket to the new material. Match it as close as possible. Most saws I have worked on use a thin gasket material.
