Just bought a new Baldor 3/4 hp. motor for my bin sweep auger. I need help with connecting the power cord. My cord has the usual green, white and black wires. The motor has 7 wires. A blue, white, yellow, red, orange, brown and black. The ends of the red and orange are tied together and, the brown and the black wires are tied together. The yellow and brown go to the reset button, if that helps. Thanks for your help.

I will go along with the instructions being some where on the motor or with a boolet. Else, for safety and warranty on the motor, I would check with the manufacture.

Steve:

The connection diagram should be on the inside of the cover that encloses the connections.

Here is a link that should get you the generic connection diagram of a dual voltage, reversible, single phase capacitor start Baldor motor. You will have to determine if you are connecting high or low voltage and which rotation and then follow the diagram.

If you want information on your exact motor go to this site.

Go here http://www.emchotline.com/badorframes.html

Put in your search information from your nameplate data, when you get to your motor, select CAD drawings and then Motor connections and it will let you choose to download or view on line a pdf file

Sounds like the main windings are paralleled together for 120v operation. A 14 or better yet a 12 gauge extention cord and cable directly back to it's own 15A breaker or 15A "D" fuse is required for reliable starting and avoiding browning out when running. Keep the ground and neutrals separate. They are not the same. Ground goes direct from the motor frame back to the panel ground bar. Use a lug, don't try to wrap stranded wire under a cover screw or some similar horror story. A dedicated 240v recptacle for the motor converted to 240v will run better. No more danger running 240 than 120 as it's still only 120v above ground.
