Can anybody out there tell me if that rust destroyer and paint that turns the rust into a black primer is any good. I don't have a sand blaster and would love to prepare my JD A for painting. I read about these products in the Green Magazine. Thanks, Tom

I belong to oletrucks group and just about
all of them like POR (Paint Over Rust)
which is advertised in Hemmings
I have not used that but have used
Hearsh Miracle Paint (also ads in Hemmings)
and that stuff stops rust cold,
just have to topcoat it because UV Sunlight
will weaken it.

I use Gempler's Rust Converter. It works great. I buy it by the quart, Short shelf life.

Tom,

I have not used the product you discribe, but have used a product called "corodless" (bad spelling) from the Eastwood Company. They sell auto restoration tool and products. This product is sold in spray cans or in a liquid up to a gal. It is made to apply on rust and is a red oxide color. Works well with all types of automotive finishes. Good luck

: Tom if you are asking about the products from The Shop in California, I have been very satisfied with their products: Shop Stripper (good powerful paint stripper), Rust Ender( a nearly clear liquid that stops the oxidation process, and leaves blasted, stripped, or sanded metal ready to paint) and Rust Destroyer( used over rust and converts rust to a thick black latex primer. The company offers packages with all three products. They are not inexpensive but for my money they do what they are advertised to do. As far as a restoration product the Rust Destroyer can leave a rather rough and uneven surface that when painted might not be as smooth as you would like. But it works great to quickly stop the corrosion on working equipment.
Good luck, Dick
