I have a 630 that has been on the shelf for several years. Recently I pulled it off and put in a carb kit and new gas line. It runs good for a while, but after some running time it goes dead everytime I let off the throttle. Then it is hard to start-even hard to pull the rope. The saw has 180 pounds of compression when pulling the rope, so that is fine. I have been using a packet of Uni-Mix oil with a gallon of gas. Does it sound like I am running too lean or what.

I had the same saw for many reliable years. Even used it professionaly for a while. Check the saw for vapor lock in the gas tank. If the gas cap vent becomes clogged or gummed up it cannot breathe and allow gas to be sucked into the carb.Clean it with a solvent if you have to but wash it off with gas before you put it back on! You can also check the carb settings, the L screw should be one full turn out, and the same with the H screw. I figure you have probably set the idle speed already. Mix oil should be about 28 to 32 to 1 by volume. Use hi test gas and professional quality mix oil.

Does it pull hard even with the sparkplug out? May have toasted the cylinder if it does.

CAREFULL !!!!! ITS GETTING HOT !!!!I RAN INTO THIS PROBLEM WITH MY 930 SUPER COOKED A JUG AND SCORED A PISTON, IF I DIDNT HAVE A PARTS SAW I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD !!!,NEW FUEL FILTER AND RUN A GOOD 40:1 MIX WITH PREMIUM FUEL AND ADJUST THE CARB TO 10,500RPMS MAX.THE CARB WILL LET YOU BLOW THE THING UP IF YOU LET IT !!! REDS ARE LIKE STIHLS THEY CUT WITH TORQUE NOT RPMS LIKE HUSQS
