Old Marquette Welder

I just purchased a "Starline 180" welder made by Marquette Ind. It's in excellent condition and was curious how old it is. The guy I bought it from didn't know. It does a great job welding. The leads need to be replaced but new ones were thrown in with the machine. Don't suppose there is still an old owners manual floating around out there somewhere?

I don't really know the actual age, but the Marquette line of welding machines was carried by the local auto parts store in my hometown of Cadiz, OH when I was in high school in the late '60s. I would guess from the model number "180" that it is a 180 amp max. transformer type AC only welder. This size welder was common in the '50s & '60s because it provided the maximum secondary welding current of 180 amps at the maximum allowable primary current limit of (if I recall correctly) 39 amps set by the REA. Very common on farms at that time that were served by REA lines. As a youth, we considered the Marquette machines to be good welders.
