I am rebuilding an old quincy 5120 compressor and cannot find rod end bearing clearance specifications. Can anyone assist?

I'd go .002" to .004". If you are on .004" with new bearing shells, I would consider grinding the crank and going undersize though. You can forget getting the rods back on if you've mixed up the caps. Quincys are notoriously picky about keeping their caps and rods together as a matched set. If you're reusing the old bearing shells, make sure you check the journals for ovality. ICC (an aftermarket parts supply company) bearing shells can sometimes need extra fitting before they will crush correctly. You might have to file one end of the bearing shell flush with the rod cap before it will work. Sometimes, there are also small high-spots on the babbit that need to be smoothed out, but you can only find these after you have put the rods together and give them a twist. Don't mean to be long winded, but I am trying help with any other problems you might be having.
