lincoln welder generator

I have a lincoln weldanpower unit that has and open circuit in the armature. the unit is rated at 210 amps and 6000 watts. it is powerd with a 16 horsepower briggs and stratton single cylinder engine.i think this welder was made in the seventies.i bought it at an auction. i guess i bought someones problem as you can see they tried to repair the problem.i am looking for junk welder with a good armature.maybe someone out there knows of one somewhere?

Hi Lawrence,

When I was a kid I used to wind my own slotcar motors for more speed. Not that hard to do.

You already have the correct wire size and the number of turns for each winding. I would think it would be easy to replace your current (pun intended) windings and more cost effective.

You might find that you can repair the break in the winding without the cost of new copper wire. Most use schellic (sp) for a winding insulator coating.

You migh also want to bake the armature at 250* for a several hours to remove the mositer in the windings. At 500* you will change the steel temper so keep it well below that.
