I have a Millermatic 210 welder and want to weld some 1/4" diam studs to a broken cylinder exhaust manifold flange on an old Gravely tractor. The cylinder is cast iron. Can I do this with my machine and some nickle wire?

Thanks

go ahead and use your solid wire and shielding gas. The weld will not be machinable, it will have to be ground to remove any weld that you do not want. You will probably have a problem doing any kind of arc weld on an exhaust manifold, I usually end up torch welding them.

I just had my block welded, preheated the area up to 600 degrees, welded a little, reheated, rewelded, sat and talked for and hour, if it lets go it usually cracks in a different spot than welded and really lets out a ping you can hear. Good Luck
