How to Crush Asphalt?

I have been given about four hundred tons of old asphalt road surface. It's in peices about two feet square. I would like to use it as road surface on a slopy dirt road I have on my place.

The problem I have is how do I crush or otherwise break up these asphalt chunks into something about one inch or less in size? Is there some type of machine that one can rent to do this? Any other ideas?

Someone said use a hammer to make little rocks out of big rocks - that's not a viable solution. I'm to old, and there is just to much of it.....

Russ: The Highway Department I work for rented a wheel loader with a bucket that had a type of hammer mill set up.The back of the bucket had 4 rollers with these hammer sections and when you scoop up the asphalt you engage the rollers and the asphalt is ground up and expelled out of the rear of the bucket. We ground up 2400 ton. Check with a heavy equipment dealer in your area they may have one you can rent. We rented from Highway Equipment in Hazelton, Pa

ask the road commisner where his asphalt comes from and go talk to them about crushing it for a price. they like to crush big lumps in the winter when they are brittle may be able to trade for some already crushed lots of luck.

I've been there. Just spread on your road, run over with a dozer and a sheep foot or just a dozer on a warm day, after some time driving vehicles over it gets very fine. It will wash away if its on much of a slope though.

Simple solutions don't come to mind...Would trundling over it with a cat bust it up,maybe with a breaking disk?Otherwise do you have a small sand/gravel contractor in area with a mobile rock crusher?
