Has anyone upgraded their Dodge 5.9L Cummins engine to the 4 inch exhaust? Is it as effective as the claims made by the after market exhaust dealers? Thanks.

I installed a 4", turbo back exhaust w/straight-through muffler last fall. Yes, the claims are valid(for my AT stock '96 truck)! The pulling EGT's fell about 100* from stock system.

You would probably be better off putting in a less restrictive muffler or removing it entirely.

I put a 3-1/2" mandril bent on mine, and it did lower exaust temps. I've never used a 4", but it should just be more of the same. I guess like the other poster was saying, unless you do other things too, you really don't need it. Robert

Unless You've BOMB'd the engine Extensively, bigger blower, fueling box, injectors, etc. and You USE that extra power a LOT, a 4" pipe just costs more, makes more noise, and allows the Owner of the company who makes the exh. kit to stay in a FIVE STAR Resort in Mexico longer each winter. It will reduce EGT's though. A full 3-1/2" exh. should be good for 250-275 HP, even more for short duration usage.
