anyone know where to get some that you can get open with one hand like the old kind with the thread? or tell me how to get them out without tearing the wrapper in 3 or 4 pieces.

I've always had good luck opening the new style wrapper, the ones with the glued edges where you pull the sides apart, just using one hand and my teeth. Ninety percent of the time you can get the two pieces apart enough with one hand to hold one with your fingers and grab the others with your teeth, and pull them right apart. If it doesn't come apart that way then I resort to the rip and tear you don't like. The next step is the important one, especially if it's going on a finger or other place prone to getting messed up and coming off. I always cover it with a wrap or two of Scotch Brand 33 electrical tape. This saves having to do it multiple times during the work day, and I can tell you from experience the tape will stand up to just about everything but brake cleaner. I used to catch He-- for the tape deal, because it "looked weird", but I've had several people who tried it and later all but apologized for calling me nuts because it actually works. Well, a little off the main subject, but just my .02 for what it's worth....
