Has anyone ever straightened an axle on a utility trailer? I suppose it makes more sense to replace it but I'd like to straighten it if it's feasable.

Is your axle a piece of tubing or is it a solid beam. If a solid beam I would do like Nat said with the jack. If It is a piece of tubing (pipe) even if you get it straight it will be weak at bend point. For this buy a length of pipe with a ID the size of your axle OD. cut bad spot out slide new piece over ends;level and weld. This is how they repair axles on mobile homes.

Where do you get your metal for splicing the mobile home axles? I can't find any the right size around here.

Would say a local pipe yard but other than that I do no know. Have never had to do for my self but have seen it done.

I have straightened many with a 10 ton bottle jack, A length of I-Beam and 2 log chains. put beam about 1 ft from axle with the bend towards the beam. Put a chain around beam and axle on both ends and the bottle jack between the beam and axle. You will have to bend past straight then let the pressure of for it to return to straight, Remember that they have some camber in them . Hope this helps, Nat

A body shop with a frams straightener can do it accurately. If you figure out how to do-it-yourself, please share your secret. A new axle with brakes is under $200:
