I have an old coal stove I am fixing up for burning wood. I am going to sandblast and repaint. I have used high temp pain in the past but it always seems to turn chalky and lighter after a while. Is there a high temp paint that's less prone to do this? thanks, Andy

Andy....

I painted mine a few years ago and used Rust-o-lium brand black paint specifically for wood stoves. Called it a high temp paint, fairly flat finish. Held up well so far. They also make a barbecue grill paint, not sure what the difference would be...

Years ago I worked for a small company that made Woodland wood burning stoves-fireplaces. I worked in the paint room painting the stoves. We used only Rustoleom black mixed 50/50 with thinner. I still have one and the paint is flat black but still good. 23 years later that is.
