Hi Rod,

Your talking about the bolster support which is cast steel (not cast iron) and can be welded with any of the common electrodes, 7018, 6010, 6011, 7014, 7024, etc.

Any electrode bought in less than 50lb quanitys is expensive.

Steve from US Alloys pops in from time to time with great info and also carry's some specialty rods in small qunaitys.

Hi Rod,

You will need to be sure the mfg rates it's electrode for AC machines is all you'll need. Alot of electrodes are rated both AC/DC and it will list first preferance first, like AC/DC, AC would be the first choice and DC/AC, DC would be first but will work well AC or DC.

Some mfg electrodes will not work well on AC.
