Lincoln air grease gun won't prime

I have a Lincoln air powered grease gun and when it works it is great but it looses it's prime especially when you change the cartridge. Tried everything in the instruction book and it won't prime . Leave it setting for a few days and get it and try it and some times will go to work. Is there a trick to priming it? Thanks

I grease trucks for a little extra cash everyweek, got pissed off as ever because I had the exact same problem, heres what I do every tube change and it works every time, When you replace the tube of grease and screw it back on to the gun, take off the tube feed right off the gun. Pump the gun and wait the for the grease to start coming out, if you have an air type like I do, when the grease comes out hold your finger over the hole so it does not suck air back into the gun, screw back on the tube feed and away you go , hasnt failed me once yet, sounds like a lot of work but the other way has never worked for me.

I have one and noticed that you need a small amount of grease to form a cone over the tube prior the screwing it back on the head, makes a mess coming out of the theads, but a rag will take care of that. this eliminates the air pocket that is there.
