Inherited a 20" bandsaw, and need a tire for the bottom or should I say drive wheel. The wheel measures 20" across and is 1&1/2" wide. The tire that was on it appears to be 1/4" thick plastic, maybe a urethane compound. Anybody got a suggestion for a source near Georgia if possible?

Gene,
I am not sure if this will work, but if so, it would be much better than anything stock, IMO. Rob Frink owns and operates beaumont metal works and makes a professional 2"x72" belt grinders for knife makers. He makes the best contact wheels out there. He will make anything from anyones designs also. What you are describing seems like it would be a contact wheel. If he made you one it would probably be the best tracking wheel you could get. He knows all about what durometer rubber should be used on what type of contact wheels. It probably would not be that cheap an option but he is a real nice guy and would even send you somewhere else if he knew of a cheaper way to go. Just a thought. =^)

As DRL says, the manufacturer is the place to start if they're still around (Rockwell=Delta, Powermatic).

Some tires are flat, some crowned. Some stretched on, some glued, and mine are vulcanized on. 20" is a good intermediate sized saw, could be anything.

What brand of saw? Sears and Delta still carry tires for most of their older saws. Many online woodworking stores have the replacement tires also.
