Dewalt is a branch of B and D. B&D is owned by some other company...but I don't remember the name. Dewalt power tools seems to have undergone a facelift over the past few years. They were one of the original makers of radial arm saws of exceptional quality. The radial arm saw market has dropped in recent years with the advent of power mitre boxes and sliding compound miter saws etc. Dewalt, has some fine/ and professioanl grade tools. But do shop and compare. Check out ratings at sites like Woodsmmith Tool Talk (August Home Pubishing) and subscribe to Shopnotes and Woodsmith. Two decent layman/quasy professioanl publications of decent quality. They usually run tools and manufacturers through comparison tests. Good reading./

Black & Decker is not owned by another company. B&D is a publicly traded corporation on the NYSE.

My Dad still uses the 8inch circular saw he bought new in 1946. He was a carpenter most of his life. All he has done to it is replace 1 bearing, The trigger switch and the cord. Not bad for a well made, heavily used professional 54 year old saw. DeWalt, and they still have parts!

If you mean the power tools, they are made by Black&Decker. I've got a 4 1/2" grinder by each one. Only difference is one is black and the other is yellow. Like chief said, professional, but compare B&D pro with Dewalt, same! The yellow just looks better, but should have used green for trim instead of black!

i think they are part of black and decker, but better quality, more a profesianal tool, than a home owner tool
