I just bought a Matco 1/2" drive impact wrench. Today a co-worker and I were working on a corn head, he pulls out his Mac impact, and it's exactly the same as my Matco. What's the deal? Who makes them?

I am fairly certain Ingersoll Rand makes impacts for both companies.

I have all three (3/4, 1/2, 3/8) of the Composite IRs and all I can say is wow. The little 3/8 gun is so light but it has so much power I have to be ever vigilant so I don't break bolts off.

Not sure about Mac but I bought a impact from Matco and it was the 2131 Ingersoll with a different color housing.
