Could check back issues of WOODSMITH and SHOP NOTES and WOOD magazines for some ideas, or just weld up some square tubing ( or pipe ) to give you an angle arm that bolts to your table. A method of vertically pivoting the router is helpful in setting up the work also.

This may be what you need. Consider those articulated arms attached to walls holding Pc's or tv's. Go to a computer junkyard kind of place monitors, obsolete, may still have these attached and some put together would give one heck of a good arm. The older stuff was heavier and required good quality arms.

I modified an old radial arm saw, works great. If you are interested I can send some photos.

I just picked up a half dozen copies of "Hands On", the Shopsmith magazine, for late '79, early '80s, including #1 issue.
The router arm sold for $595 in March '83. No router included. I'm surprised they sold any at that price. Check out www.shopsmith.com.
You might be able to modify a radial arm saw to hold a router. There are lots of them to be found starting about $50 and up.

I have a Shopsmith router arm and use it a lot. I would like to find another just in case I need parts or mine breaks. Anyone know where I can get one?
