You can have mine if you want to dig it up outta the back yard. Some people like them but I think they are junk, the overload is buried inside the windings and cannot be replaced, low duty cycle and with a flux core machine you still have to chip slag. Bottom line my opinion is save up the money and buy a Lincoln or miller with gas shield, 220 volts and you will be much happier. If you're welding outside it will also run the flux core wire.

Your comments should probably include all 110 volt wire welders that use flux core only. They do have their place but its not in my shop. Century does have a 220 volt with gas shield that is good. Ralph

I bought a century 170gs model. It is a 220 volt machine rated at 30 t0 170 amps. First wire welder I've ever owned. Only about 6 weeks old when the cover got damaged, so I called the manufacture in Minn. The salesman sent me a new cover free of charge. Then I needed a few other minor things for it. They came thru, again free of charge. I have used it some, I do not weld professonally, but It seems to work just fine to me. Very happy with it. Got it at from Sears. Came complete with the gas connections, and a good ground clamp, not a cheap one. I think Miller and Lincoln, and Hobart are all good bands too. I look them all over somewhat and I did not see a whole lot of differnce between them. I ruined a gas defuser and had know trouble getting a new one the next day from a local welding shop. It comes with a tweeco gun. Hope this helps.

Ive had a century welder in the past. (stick) I liked it real well, but someone liked it better than me.(ripped off.) My suggestion would be stick to Lincoln welders for most welding supply co. carry Lincoln & can get any parts for it. I own (3) welders an AC/DC 225 stick & Ranger8 gasoline outfit & weld pak 100 My suggestion concerning mig welders is buy the biggest one you can afford for you will out grow the smaller machines, I am about ready to upgrade to a bigger mig machine, also one more thing to consider do you have 240V power available in your shop.
