i have this saw, it is older than i am. it was running good last year when i used it last. now i am not getting any spark. i have cleaned and reset the points and replace the spark plug. when i grab the plug wire, i am getting some spark but not enough to fire the plug (i can't get a spark from the wire to the case either). i think that the condensor is bad. is it true the only way to get a condensor is to buy a full points kit for ~$30? i would think for that price you could convert it over to electronic ignition. any suggestions?

thanks

you can get the condensor by itself. your probably right, its bad but it might be the magneto. Converting to electronic would cost you twice what the saw's worth. That was always a bad little saw & time has only made it worse. Best bet is to buy new, cheaper in the long run.

The Micro XXV was never a bad saw. It wasn't as solid as the Super 25DA (used by tree climbers back then) but didn't need to be for the target market.

If the original poster has some money sitting around, I'd probably say get a small Echo. Better, lighter, AV features.
