DOES ANYBODY KNOW THE DISPLACEMENT OF THE McCULLOCH SUPER 250, AND ANY OTHER DATA ON THE CHAINSAW, WHEN IT WAS PRODUCED, MAGNETO GAP, SPARKPLUG GAP, ETC.

THANKS IN ADVANCE.

Used to be a Mcculloch dealer. We sold a lot of the 250's, it was simple and tough, almost a fool proof direct drive chain saw ,manual oiler, used a Phelon magneto and a Tilliston HL series carburetor. The 250 saw was an evolvement of the 140 series, think it was produced maybe till about 74-75. Was primarly sold for farm/firewood use, some very light pulpwooding use. could be bought with a bow or bar. There was also a holedigger attachment available for it. Local gas company had one adapted to power a boring attachment for boring under the side walks. It was a non detachable cylinder head engine ,had to put piston/rings in before installing crankshaft Should be 4.9 c.i.displacement, Think the point gap was .020, coil to flywheel gap was a good clean shipping tag thickness, think the plug was .025. This engine was the basic design for a bunch of McCulloch go-kart racing engines. Don't think McCuloch ever really cared about the small dealer though I finally told them to shove it and got out. It was owned by R.P McCulloch, He also was the guy who bought up Scott-Atwater outboards and relabeled them. Think he was also the one who bought and moved the London Bridge. Gene Davis

I've got a super 250 and manual. I just got finished using it. I could scan some of the manual if you need.
