Has anyone had any experience with cutting torches fueled by gasoline? Yes, I said gasoline. I saw an advertisement from a magazine claiming it would whip through steel about 5 times faster than acetylene. We have used acetylene and propane both for years and this sounds interesting. Comments and anecdotes, please. Tom

here is a site on these torches, looks to be a interesting torch. You can send email address for liturature and prices. From what i read it sounds like it may be pricey, but for some one who uses a torch daily it may be very cost effective.

Thanks for the link chief. I've used torches for years, but this is the first I've heard of this type. Guess I'll have to email and find out the price!

I saw one of these rigs operated at the Hopkington State Fair in NH about 6 years ago. I think the gasoline was put into something like an outboard motor tank and pressurized. The torch looked conventional but it probably had a special tip. The fuel hose must have been special as well. It seemed to cut as well as oxy-propane or oxy-acetylene. The salesman claimed that you never have to clean or replace tips. He said the gasoline lasts a long time and is cheaper than the other fuels. A web search might yield some more info on this torch.
