As far as i know emglos direct drive pumps are rated for continous duty. Now when running air tools the four gallon tank is a bit small. Would adding a five gallon tank to the system put any more stress on the pump?? It would double the refill time, to a whole 30 seconds, which is still pretty quick.. I hava an old five gallon tank i can add a short hose to and plug into one of the two ports, so plumbing it wouldn't be a problem. So will this idea affect my pump?? what are your thoughts!!

Thanks guys!!

chris

Try it. You will find out soon enough if it is helping at all, and the extra bit of running won't hurt your pump. Might make using a 1/2" impact or something a bit more feasible, but don't expect it to enable you to sandblast or anything. I've often had to explain to shop owners that extra tanks will not solve their air shortage. If your compressor can't keep up with a 120 gallon tank, how do they expect it to fill another one placed along side it?

Yea that was my htinking, for stuff like impacts and ratchets, that extra five gallon would help keep the pressure up and keep it from cycling as often.. So think i will try it and see how it works. Thanks roger!!
