I was away from the U.S. for awhile but now that I'm back I've noticed that the Ford Ranger and the Mazda pick up are just about identical. Does Ford make the Mazda or does Mazda make the Ford? Any difference between the two?

The Mazda pickup was? The RX-7 famously had the wankle and so now does the RX-8.
Wankle engines are probably more common than most people realize. I know they're more common than I realized at first. Several snowmobile manufacturers used 2 stroke versions, Datsun, Mazda and others made cars around them.
Excellent power to weight ratio. Very torqey snowmobile engines, they made excellent sled pullers.
In the cars of course you had to remember to check the oil often as they were ment to burn a little on startup.

Welcome back to the U.S.A.! Ford does indeed make both trucks; both are built on the same assembly line by the same people. The only differences are cosmetic. The warranty on the Ranger is 3 years/36,000 miles bumper-to-bumper, and I believe that the warranty on the Mazda is 4 years/48,000 miles bumper-to-bumper. The Ranger outsells the Mazda by a very wide margin.

Ford owns 30% of Mazda's outstanding stock, which is enough to give it full control of the Japanese auto company.

I think both are made in the U.S. Very minor cosmetic differences. I read somewhere that the Mazda comes with a better warrenty. Check out The Ranger Station.com
