Does anyone know the correct name of the tool the old time grocer used to get the soup can off the top shelf? A small 3' version is available at the local hardware; I think it's called a 'reacher'. I saw a modern 6' model in a Woolworth store a few years ago. It had dual handgrips, was made of heavy aluminum and marked 'Made in Italy'. The store was closing and the tool was going to the warehouse, but the clerk refused to say where it was located. I sure could use one to get the oil and air filters down. If I ever find one, I'll post the source.

Place below has some, also medical supply houses that stock critches, canes etc.

This link takes you to American Science and Surplus,a really neat source of fun and interesting stuffz,mechanical,electrical,toys,opticals,electrical/electronic,novelty,useful,useless widgets and doodads of all sorts. The paper catalog itself is fun as the copy for each item is written with made up descriptive names("bag of 50 whatevers")possible strange uses etc.

been using the gempler model for some years picking up the beer bottles and fast food trash my beloved neighbors throw into my pastures before they turn into their driveways. i can even get the kids to pick up trash for a little while. they pretend its a robot arm.
