What is the the thoughts on the newer CH twin cylinder cast iron pumps?? How would they rate on the quality scale?? What are your thoughts?? Reason i am asking is because there is not a whole lot of info on them on the web.. I got one that is a few years old. 15 amp, 120 volt motor, 30 gallon tank.. Works good for what i use it for. I sometimes wish i had gone for a smaller more portable tank, but i don't move it much so it works fine for my uses. Strange thing is my new directdrive oil lube emglo draws more amps than the big belt drive ch. So what are your thoughts on the ch cast iron pumps?? And while on the subject of oil lube cast iron pumps, what are your thoughts on the emglo direct drive oil iube pumps with cast iron cylinder??

Thanks guys!! chris

The pump i got is only turning about 900 rpms. I have been using synthetic in it for about a year, and i belive i can tell a difference.. But so far i am satisfied with them both.. oh yea roger, my compressors don't get used much. you think changing the oil bout once a year is a pretty good interval? Thanks guys!!

CH pumps last and last if taken care of. Newer ones have a bit cheaper valve design, which I'm not fond of. Bottom end is better, with ball bearings instead of needle bearings. Newer rods are one piece, and the crank is a pair of eccentrics instead of journals. Plastic filter is a lousy idea, since it rarely snaps shut as designed, and once some heat gets to it, it warps and you can't close it at all. Otherwise, still a decent pump, if not running too fast. If the price was close, I'd go for an Ingersoll Rand SS3 pump though. A bit beefier.

Emglos are good pumps. Just maintain them.
