How do you know when a seald lead acid battery is fully charged? Can it be over charged? This battery is for a cargo trailer with break away breaks.

Thanks,
Dusty

Hi Dusty,
the gel cell batteries can be overcharged in a heartbeat. you need a "smart charger" to charge and maintain these batteries. northern tool is one source, harbor freight sometimes has them. someone posted this site : >Link
gel>Link cells are tough physically but if you charge them at too high a rate or at correct rate but too long, they're toast. a 12 volt gel should be completely charged at about 13.6 volts, but that depends on temperature. the better chargers measure, and compensate for temperature.
