I bought a 2 horse WW trailer that needs a little bit of work. There are some rustholes in the sides
where I need to replace some of the sheet metal. I tried to measure the thickness but with the rust etc. it is not too accurate. It looks like it is 20 Gauge but I am not sure. Does anyone know ???

Thanks for the replies. I am just planning on getting some 20 gauge to fix the panel with the worst rust holes and then try to seal the places at the vents and doors where water got in.
Looks like most of the damage was caused by a leaking roof vent.

Hi Carsten,

You need to cut a hole anyway to replace the rust out so cut the hole to sound metal then measure. General tool makes a good B&S metal/drill gauge combo for about $15. They will be about 2.5" round with holes and slots. Alot of hardware or SM supply will carry them. A very handy tool.

My 1965 WW 16' horse trailer had painted steel roofing on the sides running horizontally.. I'll buy the thickest gauge painted roofing available for replacement. I've not figured out how to replace the rounded nose roof section yet. A call to the mfgr might get them to sell me a replacement.
