Is building a baler knife back up as simple as hitting it with a welder and grinding back down to shape or are we in to tempers, warping, specific rods? Not trying to build the whole blade just fill in a couple notches, probably rocks.

Hit the dings with some 7018, re-shape the edge, say a few words over it and let 'er go.....:-)

mj...another rod would be 8018, 9018 or 11018 for cutting edges...11018 is so hard that you can't dent it with your chipping hammer after it cools a bit. I had a job once building up the blades on a hydraulic crane for a junkyard...it was used to pinch iron in two...thru axles and springs etc. It'll hold on a baler. Takes a DC welder to run it...preheat blade to around 400 fahrenheit...tempil-stik. L8R....Fred OH
