An older guy told me they used to have Tune Up Tool Sets. They included everyting to change the points and condensor in a tractor. He said the one he had did not have anything for removing spark plugs.

He lost his 30 years ago, he said.

Are these still available? If so where?

If not, what do you suggest I put in my homemade kit?

I assume a small screw driver, open end wrench (5/32's if I remember right) and feller gauge. What else?

TIA

Motorcycle mfgs used to be great at this,Everthing you needed for routine maintenance in a tiny kit,Innovations were rampant with screwdriver tips on ends of pliers handles, single leaf feeler gauges riveted to flat sides of wrenches, nesting tube type sockets for plugs/axle bolts.Entire tool kits would fit in a beer can sized space.Shame they were metric :(...
Lessee,***Slip jt pliers(small),multi-bit screwdriver,2 short double open ends(3/8x7x16,1/2x9/16)single leaf gauges for points/plugs,tube type plug wrench***small ballistic nylon or leather pouch to hold stuff.

Hey RV
Check Sears they have a neat little tool for starting slotted screws. It is spring loaded and has a tab in the middle to grip the slot of the screw with the spring tension. They are also made for Phillips screws and I have one in the tool box but I don't now where it came from.Hope this helps. Mike

You will want something to hold onto those tiny little screws with, your fingers are too big. You can get a magnetized screwdriver that will do the job, but it will pick up everything else it gets close to also, I like the one that came with my Snap-on set, it has a little device which will lock into the slot in the screw, and hold it while you start it in the hole. I don't know if it is still available.

I have some very small open end wrenches which I don't use much anymore. What I use the most now is a very small channel lock type plier that is very handy. It seems to be the one I always grab first.
