Hi,

My current finishing mower is worn out after 16 years mowing my yard. I need another. I havent been in the market for a long time. The one I have came from Central Tractor which of course is no more.

Any suggestions on what brands to consider and why?

Thanks

I've a 6-foot King Kutter that I like. I noticed they were on sale for $970 at Mills Fleet Farm last week.

If I were looking for a new mower, I'd like to try a rear-discharge (seen quite a few folks claim they work a touch better).

Three point or Belly? How much horsepower do you have? Things to look for- Spindles- 1" minimum. Bearing housings, larger is better. Replacement parts- inexpensive. Full width roller- hard to find but very much worth it. Big belts, 5/8 or 3/4, shorter is better. Deck depth- deeper is better.
Blade offset or overlap, more is better, no stripes in turns, especially 3 point and hi ground speed.Heavy gearbox if 3 point. Grease fittings everywhere. Ask what max speed is. I cut up to 12 mph. I like Farm King- But mine is modified. Hope this helps.

central tractor was bought out by TSC which follow the same format and has a web site
I have a 71 inch sitrex rear discharge with solid tires and and a anti scalping roller ,I love it,very durable ,well made and easy to maintain.

I would recommend a Landpride they are heavy built and still in business . They also make a rear discharge model which I have not used but sounds like a good idea because my chute is always
catching on something.
