I was given a 1980 JAG 3000 F/C snowmobile over the weekend. Hasn't ran in two years. It has the AF34A2 engine (340cc oil injection into the manifold). It has spark and the plugs are wet. Tapeing the throttle open a bit, I did get it to start....once. Smoked like crazy and had a puddle of oil coming out of the exhaust. This thing just doesn't want to start. My question: Does anybody have any good links on fixing this thing? It's a good tinker toy. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

P.S. I did disassemble the carb and clean.

Thanks everyone! It looks like a rainy weekend. I'll give it a try.

First, drain the gas and replace it with fresh gas. Oil fouling is usually due to bad fuel. Try this and let it run for awhile. If it's still sluggish then clean the carb or injectors.

2cycle that sat for 2yrs. Probably stored with gas in it. Your carb is gummed up. To do it right, remove the carb, complete disassemble, clean, clean, clean, blow air through it. Good luck.

My daughter had a ? 72 Polaris that acted like that and I found a drain plug at the bottom of the crankcase. It was filled with water. After I drained it,it ran.Hope this helps.

Water in the crank case! How long did it last after that?
