Mike, I would recommend a Kinetico brand water softner. I don't sell them. They will save for you in salt and in water. Earl

Mike,
I just went through a learning curve with culligan (I was calling them hooligan) but to make a long story short I found them pretty good and I like the system now. I was able to troubleshoot my Mark 100 system which has a 250 lb (18in diameter) salt tank and a 9 in dia. media tank. I ended up buying a new seal pack kit because mine was sticking due to sand/rust that got thru a filter. With this system I do not have to exchange tanks, I just add salt. If you have a similiar system I can give you some advice. Let me know what the problem is.

TP

Mike,

If you have a problem with a Culligan softener, from a leaky valve to a blown fuse, and call the "Culligan Man", the first thing he will tell you is the problem is the salt, if you're not buying it from Culligan. That's how they make their money, not the softeners. That's how much I know about it:)!

Good luck,

Terry H

I used to have culligan tanks exchange once a month. After about 2 weeks you could tell it was not up to snuff. If I would have gotten a different recharge tank every 2 weeks it would have costed more than he**. I went to a hardware store and got a automatic recyleing one and set to your water hardness and works slick as a cats a##.Always got soft water now instead of just for 2 weeks out of a month.

Don't know about a Culligan,, but I have a Sears. I cleaned it out last fall in the salt tank as salt settles out after prolonged use and cleaned all of the little check valves as per the manual and now it works just fine. Got rid of the old salt by taking to the woods for the deer to lick on.
