I bought a used fuel oil heater for use in my shop, it is recommended to use fuel or stove oil. I have access to #2 that I can get quite a bit cheaper. The question is can I use #2 and will the stove work right with it?

Thanks Bob

Good question, would love to keep just diesel to run torpedo heater and kersene lamps. Any one got experience with these?

Use low sulphur so it doesn't stink the shop up and damage your respiratory system with sulphuric acid compounds.

There is no difference between #1 diesel and #1 fuel oil, or #2 diesel and #2 fuel oil. Kerosene is different, like distillate.

Is this heater a gun or pot type heater? If it is a pot type heater you had better use #1.

There is very little if any differance between #2 diesel and regular heating oil. The only thing you would want to watch is if you live where it gets cold in the winter, don't store the #2 outside, if this is the case, you can still go with #1 or a winter blend.

I have used diesel in my torpedo heater a time of two. Slightly more odor than kerosine but it worked OK.
