Hello,, Don't want to start a big debate about what to use for suppling air thoughout the shop.
1. Don't want to use PVC, sounds dangerous. 2. Would like to use Black pipe, but sounds expensive. 3. Untill today my choice would have been Copper. BUT, today I found a Bunch (500'+) of pipe that is used for fire sprinkler systems. Some of it is 2" but most is 1" with lots of fittings. It would be enough to do Several shops. Printed on the side of the pipe is 300 PSI rating plus some other numbers that I didn't write down. I just saw the 300PSI and my mind started racing.

Anybody use this stuff or should I stay away from it. Sounds like it would handle the 175 psi from my two stage copressor.

Thanks in Advance

Use some of it for the shop air system and paint it blue. Take the rest of the pipe and run a wet leg sprinkler system for your shop. Don't worry that your well pump can only supply one or two heads. A sprinkle system catches and stops fires when small, using only one or two spray heads.

Great Idea. Had not even thought about a sprinkler system. It does make ALOT of sense.

Thanks
John

as long as it is not rusty inside, sounds good. don't forget basics, drip legs at all outlets, slope pipe to air compressor or low point drain, always take air outlets up from supply pipe. MOST IMPORTANT install more drops than you think you need, still will not be enough.

It was installed for only about a year. Should not be rusty. I will check it out. I plan on doing a big circle around the shop with drops every 15 ft. I will pull from the top and slop away from the compressor with a drain at the low point.

Thanks for the reply

John
