I wanted a HD drill, and decided on a Mil. Hole Hwag. ( Mil. reputation, don't ya know!!) My tool guy told me to buy the B&D industrial made by Elu. I insisted so he sold me the Mil.. Second large hole i was drilling WAM! Blew the gears. So i drove the 20 miles back to my tool dealer, and when he saw me comeing through the door, he said "you blew the gears, didn't you"? I felt pretty stupid, and left with the Elu!!! I've drilled a Zillion holes with the Elu, and it has more power than the Mil., (8.0 amps VS 7.5 amps) and after many years of use it's still like new!! The main plumber on the job, the following day told me they had 3 Mil. HH's on their bench at the shop blown up, and all they bought now were Elu's! With your fingers, turn the chuck back and forth on the Hole Hwag, and look at the 1/2 turn of slop! If the bit jerks, say by by to the gears, cause they won't take the shock loading!!! Another thing, the Elu, like the Mil., has a ratchet clutch in lo gear. If you jam the bit, the clutch ratchets instead of winding you up in the drill! In hi gear it's "full power" so be carefull!! And, yes it has a 2 speed gear box, not just a rpm limiter!! (300 and 1,200 rpms) Mil., has 2 styles of Hole Hwags now, i had the older style that Mil. says is the tougher drill. Robert
