I haven't buillt a vacuum but have a factory unit that works great. As far as building one what about starting with a 2 stage snowblower. I haven't looked at a blower with this in mind but it might work. Cut off the auger and put a plate on the front of the impeller housing with a fitting for the pickup hose. Al

I used a blower off a John Deer hammer mill and a 5hp brigs. Belt driven works better than the cheep one I bougth from harber fraight but a lot more wight to move.

I built several--- the one I have now has a 6 hp engine belt driving a 12"X4" blower into a hopper bottom bin....it has spindle,bearing spindles ,12"x5" flotation tires....It will pick up anything the tractor will run over.....I could take a picture of it if you would like...e-mail me your address....Don
