Does anyone have any experience with the Porter-Cable power washer that Sam's club sells. It's the 15hp Kohler, 4000 psi, 4.0 gpm unit. Any input, pro or con would be appreciated.
Thanks and have a Great day!

I bought an el-cheapo Generac washer at Home Depot with a 6 horse Briggs Intek and a plastic General pump. Worked exactly 12 times before the pump crapped out, exactly as I figured. Put an AR pump on it, 2400 psi, 3.5 gpm, and it works well. Works that Intek really hard, though. AR recommended 8 horsepower for the pump, and I am pulling it with 6. I liked it so well that I am in the process of building a 5000 psi pressure washer utilizing an AR pump and an old two cylinder Wisconsin engine, mounted on a trailer with a 40 gallon surge tank to prevent the pump from sucking the garden hose dry, thus risking damage to the pump. AR recommends 20 horsepower and 3000 rpm for the pump, so I may have to replace the TJD Wisconsin with a VH4 that I have in order to get the rpm's and horsepower that I need. I want to use this rig to strip paint off wooden decks. Good luck. Regards..... ...P

Yep, I bought one. Heck of a price for Kohler and an AR Triplex piston pump. Nice unit, works hard and pulls hard. Not complaining too much, but that 15hp Kohler doesn't pull as easy or start as easy as the Hondas. Should have been electric start! Actually, with a couple of solid pulls, it normally cranks up. Nice large gas tank, nice 50' hose, and lots of pressure!

The unit you are taling about is too big for my use. I almost bought the Porter Cable with Honda 5.5 HP, 2500 lbs 2.5 G/Min at Sams Club for $431. I elected to save some and bought the Karcher with 5 HP Honda, 2400 psi, 2.5 G/Min at Costco for $299. The Porter Cable at Sams had the better Honda engine (commercial versus the "Premium Residential" on the Karcher) but $131 difference is 44 percent more. The Karcher is fine; I have cleaned tractors, cars, trucks, grain drills, bruch hogs, driveway, etc with good results.

Yep, but remember, it does have a pressure adjustment on there. Also, your paying extra money for a cam type triplex pump. The swash plate, or wobble pumps (Axial) do not have a very long life. Some do good to make it out of warranty, however it all depends on what type of service you have them in and how often you use them.

No experience with that unit, but Kolher makes good engines. With that 4000psi and 4gpm, you could take the paint off most anything. Watch it on cars, house siding, etc. that's one heckof a machine. I have a 5.5hp Honda, 2200psi, at 3.5gpm. That's very adequate for my needs.
