I'm thinking about buying an impact wrench to take an Allis-Chalmers Model G tractor apart with. I have a much bigger tractor also. What size impact wrench would handle the job and loosen lug nuts also? Thanks, Al.

My 2 cents

I use a 1/2 inch IR, which works out great, get the most powerful one your compressor will handle, both cfm and psi. I use Snap-on regular 6pt sockets, and found no need to buy inpact sockets, Be warrend not all sockets are of the Snap-on quality. good luck let us know what you buy

I/2 inch Snapon is the most powerful gun I have found in tire work. next best is Ingersol Rand Ben using these wrenches in tire work for 30 yr. Be sure and use oil in line occasionally I use Marvel Mystery oil works wonders on power of wrench. HOpe this helps Ewell Tucker 800 443 0802

I use a 1/2"CP unit on my 8N & MF-35. Only on the lower settings for 1/2" & 9/16" nuts. My compressor is set at 120 lbs.My backup rig is a 3/4" power bar and 4" of pipe.

Yes, a 1/2" drive should handle most of it. I have always had good luck with Ingersoll impacts.

Suggest an Ingersoll Rand IR-2131. It is a little more expensive but also has more power using the same psi and cfm.
