Does anyone know where to find age of Lincoln SA 200 by serial number? Also does anyone know if any company publishes a manual like Haynes, Chilton etc to service/overhaul/troubleshoot these machines? Thanks.

A friend I used to work with bought a new SA-200, took good care of it and babied it. At about the end of the warranty period...it was using some oil and when checking with Lincoln...they said that the cylinders were hard and with chrome rings...the way to break it in was to crank it up to rpm for eight hours. Just something I observed along the way...maybe worthy of reading, gasoline, Continental engine as I recall...(1968). L8R....Fred OH

I've got one too. Mine is siezed. I'm hoping I can free it up? I'm going to pull the head off it this weekend and see what I've got. Other than it's siezed it looks pretty good. Keep your fingers crossed for me. From what I have found out they were produced from the 50's on. They actually still produce them now and are called the Pipeliner 200. Found this out from this board. Check my earlier link Link

YES, I am looking for this kind of information too. I have a SA 160 (i believe) the generator works but no welder output. Will keep watching this thread. I looked at lincolns site but found nothing on the older welders.

Ben on the back of the gen.there should be a cover, that wraps around the gen. take that off ,you should be looking at the commentator, they have two typs of stones, a gray and a white the white one is real fine, should be 6-8" or longer, with the engine running place the stone on the commentator and clean all the tarnish off brite and shiney try to strike an arc, if you get no arc, check the brushes, and try again, if no arc, polerize the commentator and try again some times if a machine sets to long it loses it's polarity. also on the backside of the front panel there is a diode bridge that may have gone bad. parts are still available.

e-mail me, I have some manuales on the sa 200 I'll have to look might have some info on the 160.....Jer

Do you still have manuals for SA-200 Lincoln Welders? I have to work on mine.

Pawnee,
What is the model numer and code number of your welder (MUST have the code number to find ANYTHING)? I have gotten pretty handy with the navigation of the Lincoln website today, maybe I can look something up. What is wrong with yours?

Hi KX and Ben,

Goto Lincoln's website in the literature section and there you can download a complete parts manual. I don't remember a service manual or owners manual on the website as I bet they want to sell them.

All generators work approx. the same way tho. Caterpiller has a great service manual. I got a copy from the local Cat dealer as they didn't have someone to work on generators but had the manuals to train them. Since there was very little demand for large generator service, they "gave" me a copy for free. What a great manual.

Thanks T_Bone. I did email Lincoln and they told me the year my welder was made. With the code from welder I was able to go the the Lincoln website, download and print 24 pages detailing the parts. Ben in KY, try that, if you want, email me and I can send you the parts list. Lincoln offers great customer service. They got right back to me.

SA 200's are good machines, the engines are usally Continental and parts for these can be purchased from industrual engine suppliers. I overhauled one servreal years ago and i think the cost was about 450.00 for all the parts
