Anyone familiar with Bear brand hand sanders,Bear No 12,used to be very popular in woodworking and autobody work.Hollow "block"holds roll of sandpaper, which is fed out as needed and locked in place by a cam action lever setup.I have searched through dozens of abrasive supply pages and cannot locate either the unit or the rolls of paper.....Anybody got a clue where I might find em...one of mine became road kill and I really miss it.

JoeK and Ben in KY --

I can't give you an answer to your questions, but I can provide a lead. Bear-brand sanding blocks were marketed by the Behr-Manning division of Norton Abrasives. Norton is still in business (as a subsidiary of the French company St. Gobain) and I'm sure that a Google search for "Norton abrasive" will turn up a web site.

Norton does still sell the ex-Bear non-roll-fed rubber sanding blocks under the Norton name; perhaps a quick E-mail to Norton will provide the answers you're after.
