OK I'm and idiot. what are crow's foot wrenches used for? I think that I am using the right name. They look like and open end wrench with no handle. There is just a hole there to fit a socket in I quess. I can't think of an advantage. Please fill me in on this. Thanks -- Martin

I boughtna set of crows foot tubing wrenches the other day for useing on hydraulic lines . they really are worth their extra cost when the connections are hard to get to. lotta times the fitting is way back under a shroud or brace and it saves a lot of time when you just ad another extension and can reach it and leave the shrouds on .

As a retired mechanic I used them with an extention and ratchet to get under valve rocker train to retorque head bolts. You therefore don't have to pull the rockers to torque the head for the second time after you have brought the head to temperature. My 2 cents

Don't know how short you need, but torque adapter comes to mind, good for intake manifolds on V engines.

Slowpoke --

Snap-On and Bonney used to make box-end crow's foot wrenches commercially, they and others made them for the Government.

'Bout the only thing I know of to take a carb off a rotax single cyl 2stroke motor. Even then you have to grind the back where the socket goes in just as thin as you dare.

Very handy, but not something I'd buy in a set. I've collected 2 so far. As I need more I'll buy them.

A socket extension fits in the square hole, give you an open end wrench at right angles to the socket extension.

Quite handy for getting into tight places.

They are a handy tool to have both metric and sae. Quite expensive, I bought the imported ones, and am quite pleased. Anybody know what a Crowbar is. It's a place that the crows go to drink.

Unless it's capitalized as in Crow Bar. In that case it's an organization of crow attorneys.
