Compressor regulator, How does it work?

My Omega compressor has the regulator screw knob just after the gauges. There are no operator instructions just troubleshooting guide, parts page and getting started. (actually I'm a bit miffed, you'd think they'd at least have a site with FAQ's).

How does the regulator work? The knob has an arrow counter clockwise with a minus sign, and
clockwise with a plus sign.

I thought it was to adjust pressure anywhere below 125 but there's no affect I can notice. Is it to set cut in pressure?

Thanks.

you should have 2 guages, one for tank pressure and one for line pressure. When you turn regulator knob to left (out) that lowers pressure to line. tank pressure will not change. turn reg. knob out couple of turns to lower pressure in line, put user on line to drain air, than turn knob in to pressure that you want.

Let the compressor fill and stop. Sometimes you have to push down on the knob while turning. If the output pressure gauge reads 100-125 push down and turn towards the minus a few turns. You should hear air come out and see the pressure fall. Otherwise, push down and turn towards the plus. You should hear more air enter the regulator and see the output pressure go up. Hope this helps.

If I'm understanding you, the compressor has a preset tank pressure control. The regulator gauge and control your talking about is to regulate pressure to your tool, not tank pressure. If you see no pressure change on that guage when you turn the knob when the compressor is full and not running, there's a problem with that regulator.

In order for the regulator to adjust the outlet pressure you must have air flowing through it If after shutting of the air flow it creeps up then the regulator has a problem Too
