Hey Cooker308 -
After evaluating several options for my fish pond (not stock pond) I chose a system from Aquatic Eco Systems. www.aquaticeco.com - see link at the bottom. These folks are EXTREMELY HELPFUL, have an EXCELLENT catalog and no I am not a rep. Just a good company with great customer service. I bought my system used and they treated me as if I bought it new from them.

My pond is ~2 acres in size, 4 ft. in the shallow end and 12 ft. in the deep end. I have it stocked with channel cats, warmouth and some various minnows. Recent flooding in the area also brought me something unexpected - mudbugs aka crawfish.
One safety note - on edge of my fish pond I installed a post with long rope and a safety ring. Safety ring is attached to a rope and long enough to throw across the pond in the event a kid gets into trouble (not all my boys friends swim well).

I have yet to experience any fish kill and this thing takes pennies to operate. Windmill was considered but given the closeness of pricing, the back drop of trees (wind barrier) and paddle systems (inefficient & electrical pwr in the water) it made sense for me to choose this system. Diaphram pump and electrical power is located in bushes near new house while air line runs underground to aerator located in bottom of pond.

As an aside they also provide most of the aeration systems for city parks and the like for FL.

We bought one for a goose pond about two years ago. Works great. It's a fairly shallow pond (5-6 feet) but still keeps about a 10 x 10 foot area open, even in cold weather (Central MN). Suppose we could add another air stone to open up more area?

No, but by far and away the cleanest fish pond I've seen was aerated. That was an electric fan pushing air into the pond. No reason not to use the wind instead, if there's enough of it. Sounds great.
