Anybody got any expierence with these air compressors?? I have a nice big one but needed a smaller one for portable use. So i got me an older cambell hausfeld to use. It got a 3.5 horse motor (real number before they exagerated them) and a eleven gallon tank.suppose to put out 6.1scfm at 90. Quite noisy but will be fine for away work.. Just wondering your expierence with them..
Later Chris.

I bought a 3.5 hp 20 gal ingrisol rand in 1987 and used it practically every other day for something !!! for impact 1/2in gun , light sand blasting ,air ratchet ect and only have changed the air filter as needed ,has not died yet and still makes 90 psi of air quick !!!

I have the same compressor with a 20 gallon tank, I picked it up years ago, used and cheap. It didn't work to good, but, put in a rebuild kit for about $20. No problems for the last 7 years. Works fine for light use (impact, paint, nailgun, etc).

My wife got me a 3.5 hp Sears about 7 years ago as a gift. It is NOISY, but works well. It gets a bit out of breath when using a 1/2 inch impact for long periods, but otherwise ok for general shop use. I won't buy another one because of the noise, but will keep this one till it quits. Don't look a gift horse in the mouth :)

Good luck with it. I had one and recently threw it away. Piece of absolute .... well you know.

I guess mine put out about 0.01 cfm at 40 psi, if it ever got that high. Leaks on a fitting would bleed it down faster then it could charge up pressure.

Noisy as heck, sucked electricity, weighed a ton.

But other then that, it was a fine compressor. :)

I've got a regular belt drive compressor in the main shop, needed another one at one of the farms 8 miles away. Got a Sears 5 hp 5 yrs ago. It's a great machine, I love it. Wish I had one at the main shop instead of the regular type. The oil-less starts at any temp, doesn't make any more noise, and really is no maintenance. A bigger tank would be nice but other than that I really like it.

i bought one about the size of yours about ten years ago. it is a pile of junk and noisy to use but have painted twenty some tractors with it, load it in the pickup and take it to the field, do all my own tire repair and it still runs so can't kick too much.

It should put out more than 6CFM. I would think that a 3.5 Hp would put out more than 10CFM.

i don't have any actual experience with oilless types, but having heard them run on job sites, they sound "whiney and cheap". i have an old speedaire belt compressor over 25 years old and still going strong. just change the oil every year or so and drain the tank regulary and it works great. i heard several sales people say the oilless won't last near as long as the belt type, but that is all that i found now.

I've been pleased with my Ingersoll-Rand. It won't run a blasting cabinet, and it gets a little breathless with my big impact sometimes, but the price was right, and it's served faithfully for 10 years.

I for 1 would'nt buy anything but oiless. I have a older Sears(made by DeVelbis) that has never given me any problems. Ialso have a new Porter Cable pancake compressor that is very good. Try getting a beltdrive oiled compressor to turn over in an unheatd shop when it's 30 below.

It hasn't been 30 below here since I changed the oil, but I used to have a lot of trouble getting my compressor to start and not pop the breaker when it was real cold. I changed over to synthetic compressor oil from 30 weight and never had any more problems with cold starts. It was far more expensive, but worth it, in my opinion.
