Got a Fox Valley timing light with a blown bulb. Nobody around here has any idea what kind of light bulb to replace it with. It's U-shaped and probably neon. Any ideas? Can't find Fox Valley tools on the net.

I think it would be an Xeon bulb. Radio Shack may be able to order one for you. If not, I know a place that repairs timing lights so let me know.

belive it or not i replaced such a bulb in mine with a bulb like it from RADIO SHACK the coil in the light seems to generate enough to trigger the capacitor in the light, or try to match it at SEARS PARTS on the web

Thanks for making my day. :)

When I started working out of college, I got a job at Dynapar. At that time, they owned Fox Valley, and it was in the same building. I started in the Fox Valley repair department. We sold it back in 1991 (I think) And I haven't seen ir heard anything about it since. Until I found some stuff on Ebay.

All that aside, it IS a zenon tube. And the one that was mentioned at Radio Shack I'm pretty sure will work. But before you change the tube, check the solder connection on the big white cap. I remmeber that was one of the biggest reasons those were returned. The amount of current that goes through that cap to make the tube flash does a number on those solder connections.

Again, thanks for the blast from the past.
