Needing to cut 50mm X 50mm X 1.6mm square tubing and get a good square cut on the end.

What type metal saw - horizontal bandsaw, power hacksaw, or other would be the best (next to a cold saw, which is to pricey for me)?

I have a metal chop saw (abrasive wheel), but can not get a square cut. No matter how slow I cut!

I need the cut to be square for welding purposes.

Thanks.

You should be able to get square cuts with your ab saw. You might have to shim under the saw mounting brackets to get the blade 90* to the table. I did. Square the vise to the blade also. Another reason for non-square cuts is a bowl-shaped blade. Check it with a straightedge. HTH

Your cutoff saw will be close enough, the welder will make up the differance....get your self a couple of the megnetic angle, metal holders from Harbor Freight Co. they will hold the work, at 45* and 90*..... .you can also clamp the pieces, then tack them
